Thank you for stopping by my site. I use this site to share my thoughts, tips and experiments from the field of technology. A lot of this I learn through my day job as a senior software developer for Actian (a great big data company).
I’ve done a bunch of fun things over the past 20 years, first in the GIS industry and open source geospatial sector and more recently with big data processing pipelines via Actian’s analytic platform.
To read my Geospatial Blog see spatialguru.com.
Here are a few of my achievements:
- Wrote Web Mapping Illustrated – Open Source Geospatial Toolkits (O’Reilly, 2005)
- Helped envision, launch and managed the day-to-day business of the Open Source Geospatial Foundation (OSGeo)
- Founded and sold Locate Press – to publish open source geospatial books that were sorely missing for educators, hobbyists and professionals
- Wrote Geospatial Power Tools – GDAL/OGR Command Line Utilities (Locate Press, 2014)
- Now working with streaming data technologies such as Kafka and processing platforms based on Hadoop, Actian’s stack and graph analytics. More to come on this front.
If you find something of interest, drop me a comment or find me on one of my other streams. I’d love to hear from you.
